Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba)

This tree is a botanical oddity- It's fossilized leaves are found on every continent. It is the oldest living tree species, having lived on the planet for some 200 million years, relatively unchanged. However today it only grows wild in China.This particular leaf was collected from a planted tree in Skagit county, Washington. Electroformed in copper and suspended from an adjustable chain.
